There are so many of incredible options, but I’m not going to overwhelm you with too many choices. After 4 years of living here, I got to test out some of the most fun breakfast spots in the Historic District. In this list, there are options for everyone - from very fancy to a very easy grab-and-go breakfast. Yet, if you are staying in a hotel around the Historic District, chances are your hotel serves an amazing breakfast - so for the sake of this list, I will not name any hotel-related breakfast restaurant.
1.Little Duck Cafe
Location:150 W Saint Julian Street
Price: $$
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/littleduckdiner/
Little Duck Diner is a “vintage chic diner” of dining cars and diners of the late 20s with a contemporary twist. Inspired by the “little ducklings,” the diner embodies the youthfulness of Savannah! Signature breakfast cocktails include a strawberry lychee Bellini and a robust spin on a Bloody Mary. The diner also has knockout milkshakes. This is a comforting menu with some pleasing, adventurous options. There are waffles, pancakes, and a comprehensive selection of egg dishes. The much-vaunted gourmet grilled cheese menu is the big draw, though; gruyere, duck, caramelized onions, and Norwegian smoked salmon are all optional tweaks to this American classic.
2.Husk
Location: 12 W Oglethorpe Ave
Price: $$$$
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/husksavannah/
Southern tradition in this historical house is what characterizes the Sunday brunch at Husk. The menu does change every week to showcase ingredients from local farmers. Yet, you can always find biscuits with ages of ham and cheeses or their signature egg Benedicts. You should also try the Georgia cornmeal shortcake with fresh strawberries.
It’s a great place to have a fancy brunch on a Sunday. But make sure to make a reservation beforehand.
3.Collins Quarter
Location: 151 Bull St
Price: $$$
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thecollinsquarter/
Chef Anthony Debeceney takes inspiration from Melbourne, Australia with a Southern twist. By day, the restaurant serves Brunch until 5 pm. The menu includes Grits, Big breakfasts, banana pudding French toast, and my personal favorite their signature chia pudding. For Brunch, Collins Quarter does not accept reservations, so if you want to avoid big lines, I would arrive early between 8:30 am - 9:00 am or later in the afternoon.
4.700 Drayton
Location: 700 Drayton St
Price: $$$$
The restaurant is located inside the Mansion on Forsyth Park. This unique ambient is a worldly charm combined with the warmth of Southern taste. The place serves creations by James Beard with lots of southern grace and style. You should try their signature dishes like Egg Benedicts, Egg sandwiches, or their infamous biscuits.
5.Goose's Feather Café
Location: 39 Barnard St
Price: $
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/goosefeatherscafe/
This place serves breakfast all day. There is no arranged seating, it is very informal. You get in a big line, order from the window, and then seat down at available tables. They serve a variety of different egg dishes all inspired by Southern culture. I would not miss their eggs Benedicts and their world-famous pecan banana waffles.
6.Funky Brunch Café
Location: 304 E Broughton St
Price: $$
This is a tourism favorite. This colorful spot features a “cook your own pancakes” option. Inside the restaurant, every table has a grill where you choose the main batter flavor and its toppings. From there you cook your endless pancakes. They also serve great sandwiches and fresh baked goods.
